I travel for a living and refuse to accept using a mediocre "gaming" laptop; so, I drag my desktop computer along with me. I have two boxes one for home and one for on the road. The boxes lay out like this:
Home Box:
Proc: i7-950 (stock)
RAM: 6 gigs 1333mhz
gfx: GTX 580 with an Accelero - mildly (5%) Oced by the factory
storage: Vertex 2
LCD: 24 in TN with LED backlight
Road Box:
Proc: i5-2500k
RAM: 8 gigs 1600mhz
gfx: MSI Lightning II 5870 900 mhz
storage: Samsung 830 series SSD
LCD: 24 in TN without Backlighting- this thing has awful backlight bleed that really, really bothers me
My delima is deciding on which would be more worthwhile overall:
A. Upgrading the GFX card on the road box to acheive higher fps and be able to reliably play games well into the future
B. For about the same cost, buy a dell U2410 and have an absolutely beautiful monitor to enjoy home and away.
What do you all think? My budget is up to $600.
Normally, I play SWTOR, Skyrim with the texture packs, Batman AC, BF 3, ME 3 when it drops, and will try GW 2 when/if it ever comes out.
Thanks for all your wise council.
