Guys and gals :) ,
Would it be worthwhile to upgrade now or later from a Barton 2500@3200 Abit NF7-S v2.0 6800nu system? My system is pretty fast as it is (Well I think so) I'm almost always in first on a map change of CS. To all that have upgraded already, did you notice a speed difference? Should I wait to upgrade? Or waiting any longer would make my upgrade still unmodern? I don't want to fall behind the times but i'm thinking if I spend some flow on a good mb/cpu combo to last a couple of years it would be of my best interest. Need your advice :)

System specs:

Abit NF7-S v2.0
Barton 2500@3200
PQI PC3200 (512x2) turbo
BFG 6800nu unlocked
Audigy Platinum
Seagate 200giger, Maxtor 120giger
NEC3500A, Maddog cdrw/dvd
and a vast array of periphials.

You have a pretty fast system, and there's no telling when microsoft will finally release 64 bit windows. I have the beta copy, but haven't used it yet. My p4 northwood is plenty fast, so I'm in no rush for the athlon 64.

I'm in a siminlar situation. From what I have seen reported things are bit snappier/quicker by going to an AMD 64bit from a 3200+, but nothing big in real-world apps or gaming AFAIK.

Seems to me that some of the new mobo's for 64bit are a little "hit or miss'. I'd like to wait until they "mature" a bit. Also the new strained silicon process is in the pipeline for upcoming cpu's, I'd like to see how that pans out b4 upgrading too. Then there's a seeming supply shortage of NF4 mobo's and higher than MSRP prices.

I think your fine now.
