I have a few videos on my mini-DV camcorder that I want to edit and burn on my PC. I am, however, stuck as to which software package to use. A friend of mine who is a film editor by profession will lend (yes lend, only for a short period :) ) me a copy of just about any software on the market, I just don't know which to choose!

The one that came with my FireWire card, MGI VideoWave, is too simplistic and not powerful enough. I tried a trial version of Adobe Premiere 6 and it was WAY over my head, too far advanced that I couldn't get a single thing done.

Is there anything in between? A software package that is powerful but does not, I guess, let me do EVERYTHING? Anyone?

Have you given a shot to Ulead's VideoStudio 6 or 5. I tried and it works fine but saving to MPEG.
Just my 2 cents.

Learn Premiere. It's really not that hard and the more you edit the more stuff you'll want to do and you'll end up moving onto it anyway.

Why use paint when you're eventually going to need Photoshop anyway? ;)

Let me know if you need any help with it.
