Should I go with a Maxtor 80 gig 7200rpm or a IBM Deskstar 80 gig 7200. Also do the later IBM drives have the same dective nature that the 75GXP did?

The IBM's are still a good drive, and I've had only 1 go bad my 30 gig 75gxp went out. But for my opinion I would get the Maxtor, or just wait a month, b/c the 120gxps are still fairly new to the market and new hd's usually don't go bad this fast. So you can wait to see if there are any people in the future who have troubles on their 120gxp as they did on 75gxp,, if you can't wait go for the maxtor they are very good drives as well.

If I had to buy an IDE drive I'd pick up one of the WD 100G's with the 8M cache on it.

I picked up a Maxtor 80 gig 7200rpm for $128 from newegg.com Thanks for the reccommendations. Oh and a plus I just found out that my warranty on the IBM is still valid so I will RMA it after I get the new drive :) Happy Days
