Hmm, I ordered a new rig(see sig). I oredered the eVGA 7800GTX KO which is my favourite brand by the way :p, i was very happy 'bout it but ATI just announced their X1800XT and i saw some benchies and i think it's slight better than my 7800GTX KO. although Nvidia didn't release their new drivers im still kinda worried. eVGA also have their Step-Up Program which is great because ill wait for the 512mb 7800GTX , now i need some confirmations, I live in Israel will i be able to use that Step-up program and how does it work? can some1 guide me? i'm very annoyed by this... thank u who ever helps me :p

You have 1-2 months before the 1800xt is for sale, maybe an extra month or two for it to be available.

And it's going to cost you $550-$650 or more. Highend cards in short supply always come in at about $100 over retail from price gouging sites like newegg.

The EVGA step up idea sounds like a winner, and don't worry yourself about the XT leading in a couple benchmarks, that will be resolved in a Nv driver update any minute now.

Unsure how it works if your in Israel though.

The 7800GTX is a fantastic card, and you can get it now (prices are falling :) ).

The X1800XT is a fantastic card, and you can get it maybe in a month (if available).

The 7800GTX with 512mb is rumoured but not confirmed, maybe available in a month, maybe never.

As for the step-up program, check the e-vga site, and make sure it is available to people outside the USA. Some companies limit their programs to the USA only.

In my opinion, if you want a "king of the hill" card now, get the 7800 GTX KO. If you wait, another awesome card will show up and you will want to wait for it, and so on and so on. Nvidia seems to be on a one year cycle, so the next card is due in June...

i am not liking the 1 year cycle ;( . If nvidai had waited and added more feature to its G70 then it would have been a total ownage card. feature like 90nm , h264, 512bits memory and other cool advance feature. but 1 year cycle is just crap;*( . I like the huge performance difference like. Geforce 3 ti 500 > (2xtimes) Geforce 4 ti 4600U >(3xtimes) Nvida 9700 pro >(3 times) Geforce 6800U < (1.5times) 7800GT

G70 were as great in performance leap as older generation. like i wanted the G70 to be atleast be 2 times faster than X850XT PE

You could've just checked on their website. It only took me about a minute to find the answer:
"The EVGA Step-Up Program is limited to residents of the Continental US and Canada only."

What card are you talking about? eVGA only has their regular GTX and the GTX KO. As far as I know, the KO is the fastest factory clocked GTX available.

I'm pretty sure that if you dont live in the USA or Canada, then you cant use the step up program.

I oredered the eVGA 7800GTX KO

I'm using the same card with my AMD FX-55 based system. It is everything I hoped it would be, and more, honestly. It drives my apple cinema display with post, bios and windows login, shreds through even the most demanding games and it is surprisingly quiet.

I also love how EVGA maintains an active dialogue with their customers via the forums. I've found a very helpful and knowledgable community of users there, and they are the only company I know - and believe me, I've spent some time out there checkking - who actively tests their video cards for compatability with Apple displays.

The fastest clocked GTX is the ASUS Top @ 486/1350

But honestly, @ 490/1300 the KO isnt much different.
