I built a new computer for the first time in about 5yrs recently for Battlefield 3 and plan to also get into iRacing.

I want to go for triple monitors mostly for iRacing and have seen the following deals lately

Acer 21.5" LED 5ms 1080p for $120 (no tax)

Viewsonic 23.6" LCD 5ms 1080p for $130 (+ tax)

For those that have gamed on both an LCD and LED monitor I would like your opinions.

I would like to go with LED for the power savings, less heat, better contrast and thinness. However do any of you think LED is worth giving up the 2" in screen space for since the price difference isn't very much. Especially for a 3x monitor setup.

I know I could spend more money and get a 23" LED but for now I need to save money where I can so I'm just looking at these 2 monitors for the moment.

Thanks for any feedback.

I probably cant help you since I'm an IPS snob. I don't like non-IPS monitors, even though IPS tends to have slower refresh and costs a lot more.

However, I just wanted to point out that you'd better have a serious crossfire or SLI rig if you want to push 3 monitors at high res for BF3. The benches aren't out yet, but the devs are saying you will need a serious rig (quad core CPU as well) to do it.

Also, I am a big proponent of buying monitors that can swivel for 3 way, instead of having such a short vertical to horizontal ratio...

That is a sweet setup. I've thought about eventually buying a triple monitor stand for my desk or free standing that would allow swiveling like that.

For BF3, I didn't plan on using triple monitors for that because of the GPU requirements. At least not at first.

Mainly I want to use triple monitors for iRacing.

IPS monitors do look nice but on a pretty tight budget to try and do triple screens with so they are pretty much out of my reach.

Large screen space is worth it. Since you are already going for eyefinity no matter the screen size you get you will have quite a bit of screen space. I would probably go for the 23.6".

Def this, 3x 1080p 23.6" monitors = sweet.

I'm not a fan of portrait eyefinity, the bezels bother me too much. But landscape I could see myself using.

I personally own 2x Acer 21.5" LED 5ms 1080p of these monitors for work and I can vouch for these. I primarily do office work, but do watching some YouTube clips during lunch time. 1080P videos (Go-Pro anyone?) look awesome. I plan on getting a bunch of these for my home build soon enough.
