Need opinion on Video capture Hardware--wasted my time here they are all clueless

I'm looking into the winderful world of video manipulation\capture. I've been leaning toward Matrox I almost ordered the Matrox Marvel 450 ETV, but I heard it poor 3D performance. (I also do CAD and don't want be stuck with crappy card) I've been useing the Matrox G-series for cad (G200, G400 & G450) and the best I can come up with is to Use the G400 Duel head with the Ranbow Runner G-series addon to get the best all around solution. I know I've harped on Martox alot here, mainly beacuse it's the most trouble free card of delt with since I started building systems. (I can't say the same for Diamond and ATI) But I would like to know from personal experiance if any one can recomend another solution and any good Video editing software to look for as well. I'm intending to spend a ton of money but I will go around $300 or so. :Q
