Tomorrow im ordering the parts to my long awaited computer so I want to make sure these are all compatible and such. Well, here goes nothing:

Case: Antec P-160 silver case

Motherboard: Asus A8N-E Proactive S939

Processor: AMD Athlon 64 3500+ S939 (venice)

Video Card: This one is sort of up in the air. Im either deciding on the Geforce 6800gt or the ATI X800XL. I know both are good cards, when im down at my local computer shop (where im ordering my parts) I guess ill make my final decision.

Memory: Corsair Value-Select 1gb Dual channel Kit

Hard Drive: Seagate 80gb 7200rpm SATA Drive

PSU: Ultra-X connect 500W (heard this was good, but ill look for a ATX 2.0 style PSU, any suggestions would be good)

Fan: 120mm fan

Optical Drives: Samsung 16x DVD-RW
&
LG 16x DVD drive

FDD: 1.44 Floppy drive

OS: Windows XP home edition

The PSU is the biggest concern for me. Im looking for an ATX 2.0 style PSU, the only one I can find is this:

(Canadian money is used)

Any opinions on the PSU?

Any opinions are a big help; the store I?m ordering from is www.avalonsoftware.com. If you see anything there that I should substitute any thing for, please say so (they may order in parts too (like the X800XL), if you have any in mind please say it as ill bring it up while I?m down there.

Thanks a lot!

no x-connect, not a good psu at all
if you read maximum pc you will know why i say this
the antec neopower is damn good, go with that if you dont care about noise
go with seasonic for low-noise

you can save some cash by goings with the 3200 venice and overclocking it
go with whichever gpu is cheaper, they both are good

looks good though, good luck

well, im trying to avoid overclocking as I never done it before. Im going with a 3500+ so there will be no need for overclocking down the road. Maby later ill overclock it, but not when I get it.

Ah that guide's not difficult. Just look through your mb manual and you'll find descriptions
of the bios settings that Zebo is referring to. You might also do a bit of reading on the net about HTT, pci/sata locks, etc.

the 3200 is rated at 2.0GHz (200MHz x 10), the 3500 at 2.2GHz (200MHz x 11)
OC the 3200 to 220Mhz x10 and walla, 3500 speeds

hm, dont yell at me if this is not how A64s work, i'm just saying what i know from my experience with my 2500 barton
dont listen to what i just said till someone who knows for sure says it's at least not wrong

That's right. My winchester core will do 2450mhz 12 hours prime95 stable. That 50mhz over 3800+ speed. The newer venice cores should do this and more easily.

i've been reading the 3200 venice cores can do 2.7, and even 2.75 stable, that's over 3800 speeds hehe
probably need real good cooling for that though

My overclock is with stock cooling. I see a max temperature of 49 degrees while running "in-place large FFTs" prime95 torture test (maximum heat, power consumption, some RAM tested). With a good aftermarket cooler I don't know what I could do. Whatever that is venice should do somewhat better.
