I just got this Athlon Tbird (bought on ebay):

I was disappointed when I saw that the lower right corner was chipped.
Would you be comfortable running it in your system? I've read reports
from people who have used chipped CPUs that *usually* worked but caused
bizarre behavior when performing certain operations. I'd like a CPU
that works correctly 100% of the time. I haven't tried to install it
in my system, because I don't have my motherboard right now (sent
it to be recapped). Should I ask the seller for a refund?

looks O.K. to me
this happens as you take the HSF on and off those older AMD cpu's
I've had them chipped all the way around to various degrees
however a crack line is unacceptable
the newer AMD factory HSinks with the cam lever helps a lot
those non conductive (or conductive) shims help prevent this since you can
onle cock it very slightly.

Of course, heat spreader cpu dont have this prob
