This is my build list I'm considering right now. I may do some mild overclocking in the future, but most likely not. I'm a console gamer but want to move back to PC gaming to get away from the kids online. The use will be primarily web browsing, email and gaming. I intend to do crossfire in the future when pricing comes down.

1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.
Browsing, email and gaming

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread
1k, up to 200 more

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.
US

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc.
AMD/ATI

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.
Monitor, keyboard and mouse

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.
My eyes are bleeding

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.
May do slight overclock, most likely not

8. What resolution YOU plan on gaming with.
1680x1050, 1920x1080 with future monitor purchase

9. WHEN do you plan to build it?
Very soon

Here is my wishlist.

I luv mah K9A2 Platinum. It's been a tank and surprisingly has maintained a good bit of its value over the years.

If MSI supports the 790FX-GD70 AM3 as well as they have the K9A2, you have a winner!

Looks like a pretty good build. If I were going to tweak a few things I'd be the case (which isn't my taste) and the power supply (because I'd rather have modular). Both of these are largely personal preference; I hate wire mess in my case and I like cases that are a little more understated.

Now, to throw a total wrench in the works, have you looked at this build:
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/build-own-pc,2503.html

Don't be run off by the initial price tag of ~$1350 as they used dual 5850 cards. With just one the cost comes down to about $1100.

Not saying their build would be better than yours, but I wanted to present some food for thought.

DMW,

I think I'm pretty set on the AMD route, although I did read that article in the past, I also had priced out a Intel build based on i5. The main reason I didn't go with the Intel was the price of the x58 boards were pretty expensive. I know they now have the p55 chipsets which are a real good value, but something is still steering me towards AMD. Guess it might be brand loyalty since I'm still running a old Athlon 64 and it treated me really good.

Reason I went with that case is there is a pretty good gap between the MB and MB tray, meaning a can stuff a good amount of wires behind it, eliminating the need for a modular PS.

Of course, I change my mind as often as we change our underwear, so nothing is set in stone.

Fair enough. I can certainly understand the value of brand loyalty.

Don't think you can go wrong with what you've got spec'd. Enjoy.

Should this build be able to handle all current games at their highest settings ? Right now my monitor only handles 1680x1050 but I'm looking to upgrade that soon. I understand I'm not going to run Crysis full res, doesn't matter since I've never played it. A few months down the road will most likely drop the second card in.

Think I'm pretty set on my order, just need input on a heatsink. I don't know if I'm going to OC or not, just want to be prepared. What heatsink works well with this board and case ?

Thanks
