Hey Guys,
I need all of your opinions on which nforce2 mobo you like best. I have seen some I've personally liked but i wanna get a huge heatsink and well, the compacitors on most are friggin close!! Lemme know what you think 🙂

I know for a fact that you can use an Alpha PAL8045 on the EPoX 8RDA+ and Asus A7N8X-Deluxe, if that helps 😀

i remember reading that if you install the SLK-800 on the Asus A7N8X, you'll have to bend the capacitors

Is that ALPHA 8045 really that good?
It's pretty good, yeah. I won't say it's a delight to install and remove, though. I probably would've replaced mine with an SK-7 except it's in my work rig and I don't have much reason to go removing it in the first place.

The SK-7 is almost as good as the SLK-800 so that could be another option, significantly cheaper too.

Huge heatsink.... gah... why do you people even bother OCing anymore really? I used to go all out with my old Pentiums, but with things hitting multiple Ghz I find its just not worth it anymore. Having 5 more FPS won't make you any better a gamer. And with all the whining... I'm just getting sick of it all....

BTW floccus is not in the best of moods... its hot and sticky out and AC isn't working grrrrrr.....

Anywho, on the trying to be helpful side... the A7N8X can take an Alpha, I'm not sure what you really want to strap in there, why don't you jsut go with a water block? Do people still use peltiers any more?? I should go to bed....

Now now... *aims 20-inch box fan at floccus*

Look again, v3rrv3 didn't say he's going to overclock and neither did anyone else 😀 The other use for a big heatsink is... quietness! 🙂 I sure don't need an 8045 to cool a stock-clocked AthlonXP 1700+, but with a heatsink that size I can use a very quiet fan! 🙂

I'm after recommendations on NF2 Mobo's too. I was looking at either the NF-7 S v2.0 or the A7N8X Deluxe. What do you guys recommend?

are you price concious or does price not matter?
if you are on a budget, the Soltek SL-75FRN2 or the MSI K7N2 are very reasonably priced.. (Soltek being a few bones cheaper)

if not on a budget.. either the 8RDA+ or the A7N8X deluxe.. I personally wouldn't recommend the NF7-S but that's only cause of a personal experience.. some other people will recommend it no doubt.

Yeah,
I never did say anything about overclocking 😉 I just happend to have a processor that gets hot and a loud fan with a dinky heatsink. I was thinking either the 8RDA+ or the A7N8X like some had suggested for right now.

I have an SLK-800 A on mine and it fits just fine.
