With cpu prices finally gotten to not crazy levels, looking to finally upgrade. Have not been crazy about non-top end giga boards and have heard enough Asus rma nightmares to not be looking in that direction either. Have been happy with asrock. Haven't had a msi in awhile, but did just get a discount code at the egg for msi boards and they also look to have rebates on most of them, so what are some of the best among the msi line to look at?

No msi users?

MSI has come into its own on boards at least since Haswell. I think their Z170 "gaming" models got some good reviews, as far as you can trust certain reviewers like Maximum PC.

Personally -- I've set out over the last 3 years to plan for two successive new systems -- Haswell-E and now Z170 Skylake. I'm in no hurry, or I would've built one of those systems by now.

But I'm looking at the ASUS Sabertooth Z170 Mark 1. The "SUM(4* . . 5*)" egg reviews are about 69% of the total. Usually, for high-end motherboards, I expect less for those categories. Noobs usually have trouble with high-end boards; high-end boards are feature-rich and spawn more nit-picky complaints. But the Sabertooth Z170 Mark 1 is not exactly a "high-end" board, but more like upper-mid-range.

So -- if you by any chance happen to try a Sabertooth Z170 Mark 1 -- I'd like to know how it goes.

Well I built the rig in my sig in January and have been extremely pleased with it so far, and the only thing I need to upgrade now is my GPU....since I don't do games, it was less of a priority during the build than the mobo, cpu etc..
