So a large monitor is really helpful for my workflow, so I've been looking at 43 inch monitors and finally pulled the trigger on a SAMSUNG 43-Inch 4K , 144Hz, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, (Model: LS43CG702NNXZA) when it went on sale for $500usd recently.

The problem is that I use this computer for both work and play. I would really like to be able to play games on it without too much difficulty. I am no esports person or anything, mostly I play indy games with a few bigger titles thrown in, currently Baldur's Gate 3 and Sons of the Forest. I think I'll be fine using DLSS, as I'm not super picky about graphics, but having never used it I can't be sure. I don't really care about RT, but what I am reading is that while AMD is better in pure raster at all but the highest price point, for real life usage on a large 4k monitor DLSS3 makes too big a difference to ignore.

So, the question is what is the best card for performance to price for me? I am looking at the RTX 4070 but not sure that even with DLSS3 it will be enough to power this monitor to run Baldur's Gate 3 or SotF reasonably, I could probably splurge for a RX 7900XT, but I'm worried that the lack for DLSS will mean that it actually plays worse then the cheaper 4070 at 4k.

Looking for some informed opinions on this.

Here is my current setup:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
ASUS B550-F ROG Strix
G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Desktop Memory Model F4-3200C16D-32GVK
Crucial P2 2TB M.2 NVMe Interface PCIe 3.0 x4 Internal Solid State Drive with 3D QLC NAND, up to 2400MB/s (CT2000P2SSD8)
NVidia GeForce GTX 1070 Ti

You are starting with a significant performance lead with the 7900 XT, and while FSR is not as good as DLSS, it's not that bad at 4K Quality mode.

The 7900XT is a better card tho, but at 629.99 its very hard to overlook the 6950XT.

The ~400 watt power usage while gaming, would make it pretty easy to overlook for me. That's 400 watts for the card alone, not the whole system.

The 7900 XT drops that to a more manageable ~300W, while giving better performance, and the 4070 to ~200W, but at lesser performance.

Both the 4070 and 6950XT are pretty close in price right now, and watching the video it is pretty clear the 4070 is the better card. They both had very similar FPS averages, but the 1% was a pretty massive difference with the 6950XT in the 1-5FPS category which means it will have some major stuttering.

Based on this, unless the 6950XT sees a considerable drop in price, I can't see a reason to recommend it over the 4070.

There is something wrong with his card/setup. HWUB and other reputable sites, tested these cards and didn't see anything like that.
