seriously, these tires are awesome.

you don't think the re950's are overkill??

also, aren't performance tires in general not as good for wet traction as Touring tires?

Performance all-season are made to handle all seasons of weather. Many summer perfomance tires handle well in the rain. The RE950s are a great tire from what I have read on tirerack. The only thing that touring tires may have over performance tires is that they are more of a comfort tire (softer sidewalls for exapmle). Also, most if not all performance tires are at least H speed rated.

As far as I know, summer performance tires handle better than all season tires in the rain, because of their softer compound. It does rain in the summer you know.

That is true to some extent, but it really depends on the tread pattern more so than the compound on how a summer tire performs in the rain, and it's ability to "channel" away the water so the rubber can grip the road in the first place.

I read a C&D article a couple years ago in which they came to the conclusion that compound mattered most. Tread design hardly mattered at all. If you think about it, the water is going to go out from the blocks and into the treads no matter what. Directionality shouldn't even matter unless the tire is slipping.

Another vote for RE950 🙂

I bought them for my Accord about 6 months ago, cost me quite a bit, but I love them 😀

No one here likes Yokohama? I have the tourings on the accord, very quiet, and it only cost a little more than prices mentioned.

I had potenzas on my corolla, they're fine tires. Passengers were surprised how hard a corolla can grip when I fling it around turns and stuff. 😕

I have the RE950's on my car too. Accept no imitations...
These tires don't mind rain. They handle as well wet as they do dry. Then again any Bridgestone tire with the Uni-T AQII will handle like that.

I have Parada Spec2's on my car but I can hardly comment on passenger tires.

I got the Bridgestone Tutanza LS-H for the front on my car (92 Accord). $179 out the door + 60$ alignment. My son is getting the Kumhos for the rear of his 95 Ex Coupe.

what about Bridgestone Potenza 910's

you'd like them, and they are GREAT in rain.

I swear by Bridgestone myself.

I run a Potenza 730 Gen2. awesome tire.

For the record I think that all Brigstone tires are good. I liked the Turanza over the Potenza because they offer CSC (consistent surface contact) and HES (Hydro Evacuation Surface) allong with all the other tire stuff.

(CO-CS, O-Bead, LL Carbon, Super EPC, Dual Layer Tread and Super EPO)

I won't know if all this is realy good until Iv'e driven them for a while. Another consideration is that they come standard on Infinitys and other high end cars.

Plus I can return them in 30 days if I don't like them. But then how will I drive home on the rims???

I'm partial to this one Prior to this one all my tires had been Goodyear or Michelines

Well I just got home from the store. They only had the "T" rated Turanza and no one had "H's" so I got the RE950s instead.

I like the way they look and they handle much better than the Michlen Energys ever did. Crisp turn in with good control. I was concerned about possible tire noise because these things look REAL aggressive. But they were quiet and well behaved. I did hear a faint tire slap going over a concrete bridge with the windows down but the car is much quieter overall than it was before.

I'll know better when I take it up to speed on I95 tomorrow.

I think I'm going to replace my 2 month old rear Energys with RE950's tomorrow night. I'll probably give them to my son for his EX.
