I just replaced a burnt psu ( about 250 watts) with a rosewill 300watt psu about 2 months ago. It was working fine until yesterday it wouldnt power up. I tried troubleshooting and found that if i disconnect the power connector to my secondary HD (maxtor 300 gig 7200 rpm), the computer would power up fine. I'm running a dvd-rom, dvd-rw, floppy, and my master HD. I noticed that if I only connected the maxtor, the computer will not start.

Does this sound like I need more juice to power the maxtor? or does this sound like a maxtor HD problem?

What are your system specs? You never want to skimp on a PSU, buy one from a known, reliable brand such as Antec, Enermax, OCZ, Forton, Seasonic, PCP&C and you will have better luck. Buy cheap and you will get headaches ;). Plus if you splurge a little and get a high wattage one you will be set for any future upgrades. A 400W+ from PCP&C will give you a lot of headroom plus they have a 5 year warranty.
