Need new psu or different vid card?

Asus ASUS P5Q Pro mobo
2 gb ram corsair
7900gtx
Sparkle 400w psu

i wanna get a 4870x2 but i'm concerned with power demands what is a good pwnage enough card for my psu?

I'm sorry but if you are willing to spend $500+ on a video card, why not spend the $60-80 on a PSU? I think you have about no chance in hell to run a 4870x2 on a 400w PSU but the pSU replacement isn't too expensive compared to that monster video card. There is a deal for the antec 650w 3 12v PSU for $60 or so (hot deals forum). That should run the card but honestly if you want any scalability and guarantee you can run that card with ease, I'd probably go 800w+. As it is I think your 7900GTX under full load is pushing that PSU.

i need to get me a killawatt meter to check but more powerful systems get around 280w on full load total system
