i have asked this question in the past and was told to wait till windows phone 7 came out and now that it is, and my issue is still here - the lack of ability to sync up 2 phones calender/contacts w/ an outlook calender used by my wife and i via usb.

according to the windows phone 7, it looks like you need to get your contacts/calender into windows live to be able to sync w/ your phone. this is a complete joke.

so, will any phone allow me to sync my contacts/calender w/ outlook 2007/2010 via usb only on 64bit win7? i would like to keep both my phone and my wifes sync'd to the same outlook data via usb. my windows mobile 5 phone is falling apart, but does this no problem :\. there is no reason for 3rd party (hotmail/live/gmail) having all our biz/personal contacts or calender.

i had read a while back you could do what i want w/ the iphone but it was buggy, and since i have multiple appointments that have no end, that was an issue - has this been fixed? i have seen this software - http://www.android-sync.com/ is it a joke and riddled w/ spyware/viruses?

if possible i would like the phones to be able to keep themselves sync'd to each other and then update the outlook on the computer when connected via usb, but this, for some odd reason, seems to be a very odd request.

also, i would like to be able to get rid of my dedicated data usb card and be able to use the phones to tether to a laptop if the need arises - this is not needed very often, but the need does arise every so often.

i have used att for years, but am at a point where i can switch carriers if needed as i am not under any contract, but do get a nice discount from them, but whoever has the best offer will get my biz - 3 phone lines, 2 w/ data and 1 phone only.

any ideas would be greatly appreciated as i really do not want to buy old windows mobile 5 phones....

I'll get flamed for saying this, but any BlackBerry will happily sync with Outlook via it's Desktop Manager.

Here's how you do it for free. It involves Google, but you're only using them as a conduit, and you get full wireless sync with outlook, you don't even need to attach with USB:
