Need new motherboard. P4P800 or P4C800???

I am getting ready to build a new computer and am looking at the ASUS motherboards as the base to the system. I have cut back the selection to the P4P800-E deluxe and the P4C800-E deluxe. Which one do I get???

Any input on which is better. PRO's and CON's of each. All information is welcome.

If there is something out that is better that I have missed please feel free to throw it in. I don't think I am ready to go to the LGA775 boards yet, but if there is good reason I will look at them.

I haven't done all that much research on the P4P800, but the P4C800E-Deluxe includes the Intel Performance Acceleration Technology that helps to boost performance by 3~5% and also includes the Gigabit LAN. I personally bought the P4C800E-Deluxe board and it's super fast. ASUS states on their web site that the P4C800E-Deluxe board is the very best 875P motherboard. I just compared both on the website and it looks like they are pretty similar.

I would personally go with the P4C800E-Deluxe board.

I have the P4P800-E Deluxe and its quite good except that the temp sensors are somewhat screwy.

The P4P800 is a great board, but make sure you can find the processor you want before you get the board. The Northwoods are getting harder to find. R

Though I'm more of an AMD guy, I think I'd take the P4C800 out of those two options, but like RickH said, make sure to get the proc you want!

I had the P4P800 Deluxe board for awhile, in fact i just sold that board and a 3.0 northwood for 130.00 , not bad eh? Anyway, it has its own version of P.A.T. and it works just as well. There isnt any reason in the world to get the p4c800, its more expensive and it does the same. I had an overclock of 250 fsb with that 3.0 bringing me to 3.72. Also, i had a 2.4 on that same board and i got to 3.4. It was like 280 fsb or something like that. Anyway, i loved that board....i just needed more powa !!

I built my computer more than a year ago. The motherboard is P4P800 deluxe. I am happy with it.

But, if you are building a system now, shouldn't you built PCI express since the PCI express graphics cards are already out? Just a question for my benefit. I am not suggesting that I know what is best!

If you can live with Raid 0/1 with only 2 SATA ports, this is a great deal on a new 875P based board. Does not have onboard Lan but you can pick up a 10/100 card for $5 these days. I replaced my P4P800 vanilla board with this 875 board and like it better, although I absolutely loved the P4P800.
