need new MB for a duron 800

My msi K7T pro 2A died on me and I am looking for a good mother board to replace it any suggestions??

ECS K7S5A. Stable, cheap, uses PC133 or DDR. Save up for a 2200+.

Don't feel bad, I had a Pro2 I built for someone die so I RMA'ed and MSI replaced it with a Pro-2A which died 2weeks later :disgust: Anyways, the Shuttle AK31A is perfect for that CPU because it's inexpensive and you can unlock the L1's, drop the multiplier and run it@ 150+FSB for 1ghz+ and when coupled with 2100DDR you'll see some impressive memory bandwidth scores as well. However, if your not looking for DDR because of the cost then I'd do as dejansen suggests.

thanks dejansen and dapunisher I dont want to upgrade to ddr on this board I am giving it to my wife so I am not worried about overclocking this one, and then I am building me a new system probably with the xp1700 chip and going ddr on that board, I will do some more research on the ecs board when I get home from work,
Any more suggestions

I was going to recommend an MSI K7T Turbo Limited Edition because I am pretty sure it's not affected with the defective parts that the Pro2's and 2A's are affected with.. but you probably won't want another MSI now.. for me, that mobo has been running no less than perfect in my 2nd PC (was in my main rig up until about a month ago) .. total flawless and fast operation.. excellent product IMO... and like i said, they are suppose to not be affected like the other models. They are also a very low price, and have a red PCB which looks cool.. it's a perfect budget mobo, and what I would buy if i was building an SDRAM Athlon / Duron rig.

might as well suggest the K7S5A just because it's cheaper than dirt cheap.. I don't really have full faith in it's reliability, as it is afterall the cheapest mobo you can get ... but they are alright when tweaked properly.. for $50 it's hard to go wrong unless the board is really flaked out.. heh

hey, for 50 bucks, you can get 2 for the price of a regular mobo.

incidently my pro2a died last christmas.

thanks all for the good advice I have decided to go ahead with the K7S5A looks and sounds like a good board for the wife who just wants e-mail any way.
