The Sennheiser MX400/450/500/550 are generally considered to be pretty good. I have a set of 550's myself, and they're pretty fun to listen to.

If you want something larger (and better-sounding), look at the Koss KSC-75. They're clip-ons that are supposed to sound fantastic for the price, and you should probably be able to find them for around $20 at Radio Shack or Circuit City. Koss' PortaPro and SportaPro headphones also use the same drivers, and should sound similar.

And if you can stretch your budget a bit, you might want to check out the Sennheiser PX100. I haven't heard them either, but they're supposed to be excellent. I'm not sure how much they go for in the US, though.

As always, a vote for the lowly, wierd-looking, KSC75.

P.S. due to TrippyTiger: the KSC75 do not have the same driver as the SportaPro and PortaPro (and, for that metter, the KSC35). The difference is in the coating. The clear coated one has more powerful bass (sometimes fatiguing, IME), and a bit better detail. The titanium coated ones have more pronounced highs.

Koss PortaPros are lauded as one of the best, if not the best, cans at $50. If you like to listen to rock music, though, you should check out the weird looking Grado SR-60s. They're a bit heavy on the low end, but have great detail and are great to listen to.

I think the OP is going to be using these headphones portably, and the SR60's, while excellent for the price, are not very suitable for portable use. They're also nearly four times the budget, as well.
