altec lansing or logitech make good affordable headphones, i love mine :) Sony also makes very good ones.

Otherwise you're looking at spending about $60+ for "quality"

Do you know if you want open or closed?

Senn HD497 seem like a good deal for an open pair.

Headfi.org has a lot of headphone info if you want to head over there.

Sennheiser HD-497s. I have a pair myself and I absolutely love them. You can get a pair for about $40 on Amazon.

EDIT: Damn you jello I was here first. You couldn't have beat me by more than a second or two.

nice but i prefer in-ear as i already have ear cover headphones
however, are those 497s confortable? such that they don't numb the ears during use, especially when wearing glasses

The HD-497s are quite comfortable. I use them while wearing my glasses for extended periods of time (3 hours plus) without any discomfort.

My wife uses her HD-497s for several hours daily and has never once complained about discomfort. They sound good too.

Agreed, I have these and the Grado SR-60s (also a very good pair of headphones). I wanted a nice pair of both open and closed cans.

when did you get your ipod? if you're still under your year warranty just go to apple's website and request some new ones for free. lots of people are on their 3rd or 4th free pair. might as well get your money's worth!
