Unfortunately I don't have the luxury to order new ones online, where could I pick up a relatively inexpensive pair that don't suck?

The best cheap headphones are Koss KSC-75s. But if you want big closed headphones, then pick up some Panasonic RP-HT355's at CC for $30.
 
go to frys/bestbuys or any electronics store. I have the Koss plug earbuds and they are so comfortable. Sennheisers are nice to but your budget should be larger
