Need new GFX card...

Still rocking a 9600gt.....

Dont wanna spend much....only looking to get 7770 and another 4gb ram.

Have a 400w PSU that is running my whole system just fine. From what I read I dont need to upgrade the PSU,. Can anyone confirm that?

HD 7850 is probably the best option if you have a quality 400w psu with atleast 30A on +12v rail . the q9600 should do well.

I don't know if there ever was a QUALITY 400w PSU... but it could be I supposed. What make/model is it? Does it have a PCIe power on it?

a quality brand like seasonic makes good 400w psu. 360w on +12v rails. thats 30A. more than enough for a HD 7850 with q9600

I picked up a socket 771 Xeon equivalent of the Q9550 for ~$20 on ebay, and a $5 pin-mod sticker that switches two pins and makes it work in 775. That might be an option for saving some cash.

EDIT: Also putting in a good word for the 7850. It's more bang-for-your-buck than a 7770, considering you can get a 2GB model new for ~$110.

At that price (after rebate) it's hard to beat, but if you want lower heat, lower power consumption, and lower fan noise, the 7790 is a much better choice than the 7770.
