I have a micro server on an imbedded VIA ITX board ,with a pair of the old WD green drives in mdraid 1. The old VIA chipset supports SATA1 only, so no need for speedy drives. I am down to one, and the warranty is gone.
I looked at the current deals. I can get:
WD RE4 for 100 each

Or go with a pair of lappy drives for low power use. The box is very frugal with the juice, and the lappy drives do have some merit for that. 80 bucks.
