My HDD is finally kicking the bucket. It freezes up if left on overnight, and besides that its the weak link in my system.
What I'm looking at. The newer 300GB VelociRaptors are my primary target right now. I haven't decided on a set budget at this moment, but I'm thinking somewhere in the $150 range.
I'm not against SSD's but don't know a ton about them and it would have to be at least 80GB, then I'm probably get a 7200rpm drive for storage...something in the range of 500 GB or so.
I currently only use about 120GB, but of course extra storage is always nice.
Current system specs: nothing is overclocked right now.
i5-750, 4GB DDR3-1600, ATI XFX 5770, MSI 1156 mobo
My current drive is something like 6 or 7 years old so anything is going to be a huge improvement, but whatever I get will stay with me until I graduate...last piece to my system.
Oh and i do games and web development mostly.
So what is there in the $150-200 range. Cheaper the better.
