Need new cheap video card, old system fried. OC-able is a plus!

Due to a power supply frying my system, I need a new video card. I tried to rebuild the old system, but parts are-a-frying! I think my GF3 Ti-200 is fine, but I don't want to put it back into my good system after using it to test with. I need a card that can meet or exceed the power of the Ti-200, but cost is a big issue. I plan to buy a new uber card when the new generation of ATI and NVidia are released so spending a lot now is not a good thing.

I want to go to CompUSA today and pick one up. Will the GeForce4 MX440 fill this need, or should I go with a 5200? Any other suggestions? < $100 is the range.

Thanks!

if you can wait longer, Hot Deals forum has a real geforce 4 (not MX garbage) for $99, and there was a 9600 pro deal around that price as well.

Or a used gf4 from FS/FT forum for even less, or (really low budget) a Gf 3 ti500 for around $50 that's still better than a slower-than-dirt mx card.

Just don't buy a fx 5200 card, they're as bad as the mx. Read the Anandtech budget cards roundup on the main site in Video.

Sound good?
Well, you're paying too much for a third-rate card, but it's maybe as good as a gf3 ti200 so (holds nose) go for it!

have you heard of the internet?

and plus, buying a video card at a retail store is foolish. your asking to be ripped off. and i bet that 5200 you saw for 80 is a 64 bit POS, which makes it more of a POS that the 128 bit 5200
