I have a crappy intel integrated card in this PC (100mb ram)

and I need something that will run chankast or nulldc

the problem is the intel cards seem to have problems running the graphics plug ins

so I thought I would buy a video card for the first time in like 8 years

I haven't been into video cards since I bought a geforce 2 gts back when I was into PC gaming before the ps2 changed all that for me

now I dont see the point in going to the Wal and buying a $80 9500 nvidia card as it seems like over kill for what I need it for

I went to ebay and found these two, what do you guys think ?

http://cgi.ebay.com/nVidia-GEF...a&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

http://cgi.ebay.com/IBM-Nvidia...5&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

1.Just need something cheap that will get teh job done, will these work?
2.Also what does pci-e mean?
3.Are these really new cards or are they salvaged from old Pcs?

Thanks !!

do people still spend $500 on video cards with the consoles out there today?

I remember when people would buy two $300 cards and SLI them together voodoo 2 style

good memories..lol

PCI-e is a new slot that replaced AGP. Your board won't run it. Regular PCI is still regular PCI, but avoid PCI-e.

Speaking of GeForce 2... the FX 5200 is barely faster than that GeForce 2 GTS you mentioned... hah. I doubt that will emulate Dreamcast.

edit: Googled, and some people have run Chankast on an FX 5200. However... What are your full system specs?

you would think so but it will

nulldc has low requirements and they have made a lot of advances lately

I get 60fps with what i use now

BUT I have graphical issues/ missing tiles/ some slow down

I imagine a geforce fx is 100x better than intel integrated garbage

I found out that it's because intel doesn't have pixel shaders or vertex shader support for DX 9

that is the biggest problem.

my geforce 2 is AGP so it's useless even if I dig it out of my old, old box in my closet. I"m sure it would work though

so I have to stick to non -express, gotcha

EDIT:

I have a 3ghz celeron
384mb ddr system ram
intel integrated
win xp
integrated sound
yada yada

it's a crappy rig sure, but what more do I need to go online, all my fun time is done via ps3

btw, I only want to use it to play two DC games mainly.. Capcom vs. SNK2, Marvel vs. Capcom 2

Oh, it's not that old of a system. You probably have AGP. See if your GeForce 2 fits... hah.

I can have agp with integrated graphics?

I don't think I do, I can check but it's good that I didn't bite the bullet on the pci-e

I'lll have to look for a cheap pci - I don't want to invest much $$$ for a foolish experiment

this computer is from 2006 and even then it was bottom tier

There are many PCI card types from the 5 to 9 series. All of them are probably sub $100, just pick one. The next stepup from the FX 5200 is either the FX 5500 (not that big of a diff) and the 6200 which should give better results.

yea he's right they have 8400gs,9400gt,9500gt,4350, all in regular pci.

Personally I'd get the 256mb 8400gs with native HDMI for only 40$.

There's no HDMI on that? Still not a bad card.

I like and own this one, saved me from a bad flash nightmare. Edit: Only 8.1 shader though. 8400gs is better.

Hey your right. Man must be just tired. Thanks for the heads up.

It's cool. I'm retracting my advice. The 9250 is only 8.1 shader compatible. Go with the $40 8400gs
