Need new backup/storage drive

I need a new drive to use as a backup and mass storage disk. My Seagate 1TB drive died for the 3rd time in 2 years so I will not be replacing it through them. I need a reliable drive but don't know how reliable WD and Hitachi are compared to say a Samsung mounted to a 3.5" enclosure.

What's the best way to go these days? I don't need speed, this will be to store backups of my main HDDs, Music collection, and some movies and pictures. Nothing speed critical. So does that mean WS Green drive is best in terms of price? I'm just unsure of reliability long term.

Thanks everyone

I have 3 500GB Hitachis in my build and they rock. Very quiet, no problems so far.

When I was updating my daughter's laptop (a 2007 Dell) I found it had a Hitachi as well... it's still spinning right along.

As far as that goes, all my WD HDD's are still trucking along after 5+ years, too (Blues and Blacks.)

Cost-wise they are all about the same, it seems, unless you can catch one on sale.
