Need name of a device

It's a huge fan, pointed upwards, onto which a net is installed. A person climbs the net, the fan is switched on and the person is pushed up by the air flow and starts to hover. Of course, there's also a safety fence.

A sort of thing you'd find in an amusement park, I suppose.


I'd like to know how this device is called and maybe some links.

They're called "vertical wind tunnels."

Googled for the words 'freefall,' 'fan,' and 'skydiving' to find it.
