Need my caffeine buzz buzz fix!

I'm starting to get pissed off at caffeine. I was at the point where I had ~700mg of caffeine a day. I have to admit it helped to cut cravings - but it just drains everything else out of you.

Sounds odd, but I find caffeine makes me more lazy if anything. Not from a "awake" standpoint - but from a logic stand-point of using your brain. Yeah, sure, cup of coffee in the morning can wake you up - but can it toss you into a mental state of work?

I'm starting to try and get off my caffeine fix. Wednesday (9/2) was my last day, so it's been a week so far. I've been through the worst which is really just the first 3 days. I can already say I feel way better. Previously, waking up was like a sloth. Hitting snooze 5x was normal. No matter how I got up, I felt like shit until I got my fix. I'm waking up and actually feeling... ok..

edit: oh yeah, and until its completely out of my system I'm trying to fool myself with decaf....

edit 2: It's not working :(

Doesn't sound odd at all. It's very quick to gain a tolerance to caffeine, so it really stops being effective at 7 to 10 days in or earlier. Which means you need more to gain the same energy level.

I quit coffee and caffeine about three weeks ago. I felt I was too reliant on the stuff. I'm sure I'll start having it again soon just for the pleasure of it (I love the taste of coffee) I just did not want to have to force myself to have a cup or two a day.

Good luck with quitting it.

Coffee is delicious. I do not really notice the caffeine unless I drink like 3 or 4 pots of coffee in one sitting, however, I really really enjoy the delicious rich flavor of coffee.

700mg a day is a huge amount!

In all honesty, most came from Caffeine/Ephedrine. Each has 200mg caffeine pill was where the majority comes from. It's a good feeling not having to worry about feeling hungry... all day...

Now I'm craving shit and trying to resist going to the sandwich shop with chips every day for lunch.

coffee tastes like ass unless you're referring to all the stuff you put in it. Really. Unless you drink it black, how can one say they actually like the taste of coffee?

Of course I drink it black, I would not pollute my coffee!!!!!

Coffee is earthy and rich and bitter. It's fvcking magnificent. It's probably the 2nd best drink, behind beer.

Well than kuddos to you for actually being able to drink it black :D

After the stuff most people put in it's a morning milkshake. Most I could ever do was with unflavored/unsweetened creamer.

You're like the person who says "beer sucks!" and it turns out you've only tried Natural Ice. Coffee, like beer or wine, has literally thousands of different options available in terms of the beans used, the roast, the grind, the method of preparation, etc. If you're basing your opinion solely on the giant pots of Folgers you get for free at work then, yeah, coffee does indeed suck. But there are other options. Try some. You may be pleasantly surprised.

700 mg is way too much caffeine per day though. That's just crazy.

And this. I buy my beans from a local place here that has a good variety, and it ends up working out to something like 5-10 cents per cup for stuff that's way better than shitty Tim Hortons or most ground coffee you can buy in a store. Now that I drink somewhat decent stuff, I only ever drink it black. When I was only drinking crappy coffee, I had to load it up with sugar and cream for it to taste good to me.

Thanks for this thread. I'm going to go make a pot now.

Don't get me wrong, not saying good coffee doesn't exists. I think I said that wrong in my post. I love a good espresso if anything.

I'm referring to all the people that butcher the coffee to the point where the taste of the actual coffee is no longer even a factor. *cough*Anyone who buys from starbucks*Cough*

700mg really isn't all that crazy. How much do you think is in a single cup of coffee (8oz)? Now how much do you think is in that 20oz jug that everyone fills up twice?

Go exercise.

people who don't exercise don't understand the fact that exercising gives you more energy. their excuse is they never have enough energy to exercise, so how could doing it give you MORE energy?

I agree with all of this 100%. :thumbsup: Also delicious rich porters with a hint of coffee flavour to it is amazing. Best of both worlds!

It's not an ability, it's a preference. It's a rather strong preference.

I will drink uncoffee rarely, for example, when I go on vacation in New Orleans, I always drink at least 1 cafe-aue-lait.

If I go to Cuban restaurant, then I'll drink the cuban style espresso (which has sugar in it.)

95% of the coffee I drink is black drip coffee
4% of the coffee I drink is coffee in various stouts/porters (Founders Breakfast Stout, MMMMM!)
1% of coffee I drink is "butchered"

Also, Coffee really goes excellent with a cigar. Many may like cognac or whatever, but, to me, Coffee is the absolute best drink to go along with most cigars. The only thing that comes close, is a good stout.

Problem is you squander most of that "new energy" doing more exercise. It's an unhealthy cycle that won't stop until it kills you.

spoken like someone who does not exercise :thumbsup:

and "doing more excercise" is a good thing if it means going out and doing things outside. it could also mean doing yardwork or things that need getting done around the house.

I play sports, I'm not interested in being good at "exercise".

So I've heard that a million times.

I've also heard this.

Calories = Energy.
Exercise = Burns Calories.
Exercise = Burns Energy

Explain :colbert:

Sidenote: I'm working out consistently for the last 4 months thanks to a wedding. So thats not a problem.

i don't know the science behind it, but google has a lot of links for you.

https://www.google.com/search?q=why+does+exercise+give+you+energy

do you really think the fatass who sits on his couch playing video games and eating after work has more energy than the guy who goes to the gym after work?
