I need an inexpensive MP3 player for my son, who is 10. He wants one because all his friends have them. He does listen to a little music, but it's not something that he's into. How are the MP3 players with FM radio built in? Geeks has some 1 gb players for around $35-40, like this. Are these totally junk? He just wants to listen to some songs; he's not an audio nut (He's 10 after all)... Any suggestions appreciated.

Actually not a bad idea.....I do have an MP3 player that I use in my van through the stereo in there, but I don't have a portable unit. I do have about 20,000 mp3's that I have collected over the years, so it might come in handy.

But really, how bad can the one I posted above be??

Like all cheap electronics, cheap MP3 players vary in quality greatly. Some are good and others are junk. If you are going to buy something cheap then buy it from somewhere local that will take exchange or return.

Also check out woot, seems like they have a different name brand MP3 player every week. Actually you just missed this by a day. It was selling for $40
