Is their a motherboard out there that I can use this cpu with if I intend to upgrade to a dual core later on?

No, Core 2 is a different socket.

Well my motherboard is LGA775, and it runs my P4. So I'm assuming my CPU is the same socket size.

Doubled checked and my CPU is in fact LGA775.

Your Intel board probably uses ddr memory. Checkout the Asrock ddr core2 duo boards. 3btech has the Asrock dual vsta for about $32. Newegg may still carry them. They only work with 1066 fsb .065 core2 duos, not the newer 1333 .045. The ones I refer to have 2 ddr and 2 ddr2 slots.

I was going to change the ram, and get a PCIe video card. I just wanted someone to confirm that this CPU will work with the same board as a E or Q cpu.

Your cpu will work with just about any socket 775 motherboard, including the newest ones. I recommend a p35 chipset board if you want to use ddr2.

I was leaning towards a Abit P35, saw one for 89$. And a ATI HD3850. Not sure on the ram though.

My concern though is how big a PSU will I need for this? I'm on a budget right now, thats why I want to reuse the cpu. But I intend on get an E8400 in a couple months, along with a new case, and SATA hard drive.

Good call on the P35 + 3850. Good budget combo. Get 4GB of RAM and be done with it. It's cheap as hell and Vista loves 4gb 🙂

PSU - you shouldn't need more than 450w or so. Even with an E8400 and some extra hard drives.

But the 865GLC is not. Did you mean 865GSA?

I'll have to check all that when I get home. Lol.

I'm connected remotly right now and the chipset utlity won't work in vista. But the only cpu number I can find on intels web site for a 3.20E with 1mb L2 is 541 which is a LGA775.

Well turns out it was pretty dissapointing coming home.

It's a socket 478 P4 3.20E. My board says GLC/PESO/PCD/PCK

I got two of these damn cpu's. Grrrr....

lol oh well, thanks for all the info.
