I was looking into upgrading my motherboard. I plan on buying an AMD XP processor and a new board. What is a good NForce2 board out there that is reasonably priced? Also, I saw this Soyo Dragon Ultra Platinum Edition KT333 for about $50 online......is it any good?

For a good board that is not to much $$$ look at the nForce2 Shuttle board and then the Epox. Both can be had pretty cheap and are very good.

Do you have any model numbers for these brands of boards you suggested? Also, does ASUS make an nForce2 board?

Asus does, but I suggest not going with an Asus. The Epox board is the 8RDA+, and I like mine alot. It goes for aroung $85 at newegg and mwave.

Shuttle AN35N-Ultra = $77 shipped newegg.com
Epox EP-8RDA+ = $83 shipped newegg.com

Both of those are cheap. The shuttle is king of cheap nForce2 boards, while the Epox is the king of value cheap nForce2 boards. The Epox has better sound and also firewire. So if you ned the Better sound/firewire go Epox, if not go shuttle.

What does the "s" symbolize on the Abit NF7-s board? Because I saw some Abit NF7 boards online for about $85....is that the same thing?

No. The S is the top of the line one, the Non-S is the base model. It does not have SATA, firewire, Soundstorm sound, etc...

I have the NF7-S and it is a great board. I love the on-board sound and the only 2 things plugged into the board are my TV Tuner card and my video card

I suggest you get then that DRAGON board. Its cheap and full of features, and unless doing serious gaming, or high-memory-bandwith intensive apps, then this board will work charms for you.

Well, I don't need the on board sound or firewire.........although I could possibly use the SATA. Are there any other models that fit what I am looking for?
