I have the SDR i845 mobo. (No comments please, it works great and was a fantastic deal - more speed than I know what to do with.)
I need to know just what the AGP limitations are.... There are only a few cards mentioned (like V5, KyroII) that will fry the board - what about OLDER cards from Trident or Cirrus Logic?

Oh jeez... I can't believe I did this......
I'm all worried about AGP limitations... I'm holding PCI cards in my hands!!! [smack head]
And I just missed out on selling my Rage128pro!

Better call the guy back and tell him it's okay. ;)

But the question still stands... will older 2-4MB AGP video cards work? Ones that are only 1x or 2x AGP? Or is it ONLY modern 1.5v cards that will work without fireworks?

I know you wrote a FAQ. Not everybody has a GF2MX or the money to buy one. I want more comprehensive information regarding older cards than Geforces.

The problem is no one can provide comprehensive information.

We wanted to do testing here at the AT labs, but we just can't, because there are too many cards.

As far as I can tell, there are differences even within PCB revisions for each video card. It is impossible to do exhaustive testing for every card.

There's got to be some kind of "blanket statement" that covers most cards, something like "so long as it tests as 1.5v by...." or so long as it's 1x or 2x but not 4x... etc.
I was just hoping other Ananders might have experimented a bit.
