That was one great Yankee game last night. But I've got a bank meeting in a couple hours and I gotta get rid of my silly grin. We've probably declaring bankruptcy (too many lower-manhattan clients, income is shot to h*ll). I need to at least be able to fake sober.

Don't fail me, guys. Any way to straighten out quick?

To my knowledge, no. You can try eating something I guess or if you can take a cold shower or exercise, that might help.

Tauren's got it right: you are dehydrated, have pissed away all your b-complex vites, and were probably munching hot wings to boot. Do what he said. Also: a cup of coffee might help a bit....caffeine is a vasoconstrictor that might help your headache a bit...also a mood elevator to perk you up a bit. You're still going to smell like a brewery tho.

Fausto-

I thought caffinee was a vasodialator... Hmmm...

Anyway, the best way to get rid of a hangover is: Take some vitamin B, C, and E, plus a multi-vitamin. Drink as much water as you can hold without making yourself sick, and keep drinking. You need to rehydrate. That is what is causing your headache and other nasty feelings. You can try eating some really simple, mild food, like toast or rice krispys cereal and milk. Get some milk in you as well. Finally, try taking some ibuprophene, and lay down for an hour. Try to sleep a little if you can. When you get up, you will need to drink some more water. Keep drinking all day long.

The water, carbs, vitamins, and pain-killers will help you feel better, but basically you will need to wait it out. Once you are re-hydrated, try drinking a can of Red Bull, or a couple of cups of coffee. Doing so will flush a lot of the water back out of your system, and along with it any toxins that have built up. Repeat drinking water and then caffinee until you feel like new.

Good luck my friend.

1. 24oz Cup of Coffe
2. 2 Goody Powders
3. 1 24oz Gatorade

Its never failed me to get over the headache and general bad feeling quickly, You will also want to drink as much water as you can all day.

No. Alcohol is a vaso-dialator and Caffeine is a vaso-constrictor.

BTW, there is really no short term cure for a hangover. Pain killers and caffinee will help short term, but you will feel like crap when the effects wear off. The absolute best way to cure a hangover is to do what I said, but instead of laying down for an hour, just fall back asleep for good. When you wake up needing to pee, do so, and then drink more water and go back to bed. Repeat until you feel better or have to rejoin the world of the living for some reason.

Yup. You're body is in short-term ethanol withdrawl and there's nothing you can do about it.

My most painful, yet effective cure: the three-hour bike ride that leaves near my house every Sat am. The first hour always SUCKS, but never fails to burn out those poisons....nothing like a bigazz shot of endorphins to cure what ails you. ;)

An IV works the best if you must get your head right in a hurry. Do you know any paramedics? When I was in the Army, an IV of saline solution got me going within about 2 hours or so.

Gatorade and water are the next two on the list if a friendly paramedic can't be located.

I was gonna suggest the same thing burnedout. That's almost an Army tradition now. Got CQ at 6am and were out drinking til 4? Grab a 16 guage catheter and a bag or two of Ringer's Lactate and you'll be feeling better in no time. I also suggest some aspirin to thin things out and help stuff to flow a little better.

Rogue: You are right. I forgot. Ringers Lactate is better than Saline.

Yeah, partying down all night with duty the next day makes necessity the mother of invention. :p
