need more bandwidth and range for PS3

I'm using a Netgear Wireless b/g router (WGR614) on my home network. It does fine for basic things in my home office in my upstairs, but my PS3 downstairs does not get a good signal at all. Very slow with lots of lag, and I can't stream music very well and video is impossible. What do I need to improve the signal to the PS3? I'm perfectly fine with replacing my router, but I don't want to break the bank--maybe $100 or so, but preferably less.

Also I'll point out antenna orientation. Don't have the axis of your router antenna and the client inline with each other. One of the worst things you can do it "point" the anteanna at each other.

You should have excellent (for wireless) performance between a single floor. But you will always deal with the fact that wireless is unpredictable.

One other aspect is that not only are they on different floors, the router is roughly in the middle front of the house, while the PS3 is at the extreme left and at the back of the house. So they are almost at opposite ends of the house, AND on different floors.

im also having some questions regarding this, i have my cable modem setup all the way in the 3rd floor, and the ps3 is dirrectly 2 stories below it on the 1st/basement floor! how would one obtain an exceptional signal without breaking the bank..? would it be ok to go with a decent 802.11g wireless router connected to the cable modem..? would the ps3 signal be strong/decent..?its directly below it but about 25 feet away.

I ended up trying out powerline networking. Everything is fine now with no problems. I have my Xbox and PS3 hooked up via a switch, and both work beautifully.
