Need monitor suggestions, odd requirements

After much convincing, my GF has moved from a 350mhz imac to an AMD 2100 w/gf4 (a couple rounds of unreal tournament helped her decide). The issue right now, however, is desk real estate. Her imac (15" fyi) had a MUCH smaller footprint than the bulky (and somewhat outdated) 17" monitor she's using now. I am, therefor, seeking a monitor that saves space a little better. LCD is out, just because I can't afford it (and who needs the added lag 😉 ).
Current monitor is ~18" deepX18" high(including small stand)X16.5" wide. By comparison, imac was 15" deepX15.5"highX14 wide. Naturally, it'd be difficult to match these dimensions with a 17" monitor, but the current one is particularly boxy/bulky. Seeking smaller monitor with lower fugly factor (read: sleekier industrial design). Any suggestions?
If this is the wrong forums. please lmk.

Naturally, good refresh rate at higher resolutions valued, etc. etc.

All help appreciated

Samsung and a few other major brand monitor makers have a range of "short neck" CRT monitors. These are much less deep than the average ones.

I'm using a fugly viewsonic a75s. It's a few years old 17" crt the front to back is slightly over 14". Something like 14 1/8" if you look at the viewsonics the s models are the short necked ones.

~14" would be great.
Their products page doesn't list yours, it seems, and they've either stopped using the s to show shortnecked, or I'm missing something and/or I'm stupid.

Dang looks like they don't have any short neck crts anymore. found out mine is oficially 15.1" according to specs and discontinued.

Samsung 750S 15.6" depth hard to find short neck crts. Most 17" short necks have a 16"+ depth. If I was shopping for a monitor I would check local stores first if possible.
