Need Monitor Recommendation.....

Hello... I am moving out of my parent's home, and I need a new monitor. Right now, I have Viewsonic GS790 19 inch, which I will give it to my parent's computer. I'm not sure how permanent my new residence will be, so I would like something that is not so difficult to move around. I might consider a 17 inch, since my 19 inch is huge! My budget is about $400.

Thanks!

If size is really that big of a concern, I would probably go with and LCD. You will pay more, but the space saved can be a godsend. But it also depends on what you will use it for. If your into gaming or other graphic intesive apps, you probably want to stick with a CRT, and 17" is pretty small. The viewable difference between 17 and 19 (and also 21) is pretty huge in my mind, and I would drop the extra cash for a bigger screen. Samsung makes some good monitors (17 and 19) for under $275, and I have been really happy with Philips monitors too, although they can be harder to find. A 17" LCD will probably run $500-$800.

I'm not really big into graphics intensive gaming. I save that for my xbox! Pretty much, the only games my computer sees are the original nintendo games I play with an emulator. Also, I'm not sure I see a need for a huge screen, as I am sitting only a few inches away. I'm still not sure what I should get, perhaps I will consider a 15" LCD.

The only problem is it is still going to be big - but think about it - How often are you really going to be moving this thing around town? I doubt you'll be moving every other day. 😉
