need monitor help

i have a 19" nokia 446xs crt .25mm dot pitch monitor and all of a sudden the screen just went blank. the computer was still working because i could hear the sound that was playing before the monitor went blank. the monitor was also on, just blank. i made sure it was connected securely and tried replugging it in and turning it off and on and it still was blank. i also tried restarting the computer. nothing worked. even when i just turned the moniter on and the computer was off, it was completely blank.

so i unplugged everything and moved the cord in the back around a little. then i replugged it all back on. it is now working but the screen has a blue tint. i moved around the back cord again but it didn't seem to help. i made sure the settings for colour on the monitor were on default but it still has the blue tint. does anyone know what's going on and how to fix this? thanks.

also, things that are supposed to be green are yellow and things that are supposed to be red are black. everything else just has a blue tint.

If your monitor has a degaussing feature, try using it.

I once had a similar problem with my old monitor and it turned out that the VGA cable was damaged and had to be replaced, while later on (check to see if you have bent pints on your connector), when the problem manifested itself again, it turned out to be a problem with a loose connection that needed soldering on the inside - I wouldn't try fixing this on my own!

Bent pins on the vga cable is what I meant. And yes, I guess degaussing is demagetizing - using that option from the menu on your monitor (I dont really know of any other way).

the pins aren't bent and i tried using another monitor on this computer and it worked fine. also when the monitor isn't connected to the computer it still has a blue tint on the default monitor screen. thanks for your help.

wow, something really weird is happening now. the colours seem to be coming back. i can see red again and yellow is now only a little green. red seems completely normal now but i checked it a few hours ago and it was a sort of blackish red, whereas this morning it was completely black. this is so weird, does anyone know what's going on?

It's most likely connection issue of some sort; since you've plugged it into a different computer, you probably have it connected fine, but the wiring could be faulty.

I remember that happened to me once back when I was still using my old Voodoo 3 that bit a piece off of a monitor (one of the screws), and so it didn't screw in properly any more, and occaisonally it would get loose and the colors would get wonky.

"does anyone know what's going on?" Uhh, your monitor is dead. How old is this thing anyways? Get a new one and move on. I just lost a 1000 buck sony that was only 5 years old.

i don't think it's dead because it's working fine right now. i had it plugged into my normal computer just like when it first broke. it seemed to gradually regain it's colours back throughout the day and by the end it had all the colours again. i didn't even touch anything at all. it's very strange.
