Finally ready to build new system, I thought. Was getting E6600 cpu with Intel 965 mobo (not completely decided on which one). Then see that the E6750 cpu's cost same as E6600, so will get that. That caused me to revisit mobo's, and now looking at the Intel P35 board. Not happy with it, though, only 2 pci and no floppy. Any thoughts on mobo recommendation?

Not gamer (used to play unreal/quake, but not now)
Will NOT O/C (did years ago, but not now)
Don't need/want RAID, but suppose can just disable in bios
Want at least 3 regular pci if possible
The more USB & SATA ports the better (mostly for possible future use)
Will not use SLI, don't want a board with it, as it takes up room
Intel's onboard graphics is ok, if crappy, then will add $100-$150 video card later
Onboard audio, just basic audio. (I almost never have speakers on)

I like the Intel P35, as it has eSATA and I'm leaning toward the SonataIII which has eSATA on front (not that I'd probably ever use it ;-) Con's=no floppy and only 2 pci. Although I suppose can add a usb floppy drive.

I've built systems in the past with Asus, no complaints, execpt both Asus and Gigabyte seem to throw everything and the kitchen sink onto the boards. Plus, Asus is using Marvel NIC, and it seems like I've heard bad about that.

Use of machine: other than "normal use", will be running VirturalPC/vmware with several guests running. Also, occasional photoshop editing (not very often), and (only rarely) video editing.

Any recommendations? oh, price....$100-$150
Thanks, Josh

Looked at the gigabyte Ozoneman listed, interesting, but only 4 usb? 8 SATA though.

Did find this Intel board:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16813121314
and it does have 3 pci slots. However, since I posted, I've looked at intel's web site, ant the P35 supports the E6750 with a bios upgrade, since I have to assume that the board I would receive has the lowest (first?) bios version, I'd have to assume it won't support without flashing. And how do you flash if the cpu isn't recognized and don't have another?

Also, no ps2 keyboard/mouse ports. I'd probably be getting new usb devices, but those ps2 ports are handy if for example, my usb keyboard gets beer spilled all over it and have to use an old keyboard while the new one is shipped.

hmm........still thinking....

thanks guys.
