Need Mobo Recommendation for Slot A 800 Mhz T-Bird...please help

I've got an 800 Mhz Athlon Thunderbird and I'm looking for a good motherboard that will support it. My main criteria are stability, 5 PCI slots minimum, 3 dimms minimum...

Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Going by all the reviews I've read so far, I'd go with the Abit KT-7 Raid or the ASUS A7V, as recommended by Anandtech! Read the reviews for these boards on the main site or use these:

The kt7-raid is useless to you. The kt7 is a socket a board and you have a slot a cpu. The abit ka7 and ka7100 got very good reviews(both are slot a) and will fit your criteria.

Thanks for the rec, but I already have the Abit KA7 which I've tried running my Slot A 800 Mhz Thunderbird on, but it won't run stable. I have a Slot A 750 Mhz Non Thunderbird which runs fine on the KA7 board. However, I need another mobo for my 800 Mhz T-bird...

I've also checked Abit's website and they state that neither of their Slot A mobo's officially support the Slot A Thunderbirds.

I heard there are serious stability issues with the slot a tbird and ka7. I was more worried about the incorrect info given in the previous reply.
tbird slota + kt7 raid(socketa)= tbird is not gonna fly
 
Appreciate the concern. I've got a Duron 800 running on a KT7 and I love it. However, I need to find a good board for my Slot A T-bird since I don't want to waste it! Anyhow, I found an Asus board on their website, the K7VT, I believe that supports Slot A T-birds. Only problem is I can't find it out in the retail channel.

Someone out there must be running slot A T-birds...please help.

The Asus K7V makes a great board for the Slot A T-birds, once you perform the mods on the motherboard. The instructions are on Tom's German site and basically is the addition of 4 SMD caps and a couple of SMD resistors. I did mine and it works great (750 @ 900 mhz). You can probably pick up one of these boards easily because like you stated the K7V-T are impossible to find.

Wolverine27- Forgot to mention, Tom's German site is in German so you'll need a translator. I wish I still had the link that was given to me by one of our gracious members.

I found the translator and I did find the article on Tom's German Site. Thanks a ton! The article actually talks about turning your K7V into a K7VT. Well, I'm off to read it now. Oh yeah...here's the URL for the translator...pretty cool...

You CANNOT *reliably* run a TBird core SlotA processor on ANY VIA KX133 board.

Get the MSI K7Pro, still availaBLE FOR ~99.00

the board you pick MUST have the AMD 750 "Irongate" chipset.

Not to flame but what do you base your comment that a Slot A will not run on ANY VIA KX133 chipset on? Dr. Tom is as big a pompous as_ as I've ever met at times, but I will admit he is very knowledgeable and highly respected. So when I read his article on how to modify the Asus K7V to run a T-bird, I believed him. Contrary to what you claim, I can run a Slot A T-bird on a VIA KX133 chipset motherboard reliably, and have for over a three weeks now. It runs 24/7 and I can't remember a single lock-up since turn on, even with my CL DDR Geforce.
