I am an ex-IT worker who is looking to build a system for around $1000. I will use the system for gaming, photo editing, and general multi-tasking (I am one of those people who likes to have 25 firefox tabs open at once). I know how to put computers together, but its been about five years since I immersed myself in the computer parts world. I am little overwhelmed by all the new terms, particularly regarding dual core motherboards. I would like recomendations for a motherboard and dual core processor based on the other computer parts that I plan to buy. I do not have an allegiance to Intel or AMD. The parts are:
dvd burner: nec nd-3550a
hard drive: 250gb sata 16mb maxtor
power supply: FSP Group (Fortron Source) AX400-PN
video card: ati x1900 xt
case: COOLER MASTER Centurion 5 CAC-T05-UB Black
In terms of the motherboard, PCI express for the graphics card is a must. Also, I would prefer that the motherboard have on-board LAN, 3+ USB ports, 5.1 sound. Also, if there are motherboards like this that are made with built-in wi-fi, I would prefer that too, as well as a card reader of some sort. I would also appreciate RAM recommendations for this set-up.
