Need memory for Lenovo W520

I have a Lenovo W520 on order with 4GB of memory. I have another 4GB SODIMM in the drawer. I need to bring the memory up to 24GB, may be 32GB.

Any one with experience / recommendations on 8GBx2 SODIMM kits ?

If all you're looking at is a 2x8GB kit, then just make sure to get JEDEC-spec 1.5v or 1.35v PC3-10600 and you'll be fine.

Yes, the W520 has four SODIMM slots. There may have been a few variations that had problems with populating them, but It is supposed to take up to 32GB in 4 x SODIMM.

Have you had the W520 for long time? Are you happy with it ?

I've had it for about 4 months now. It's a good computer that is severely crippled by a spindle hard drive and some of the crap the domain admins push on us via GPO. We're getting a new set of W520s in the next couple weeks that have 16GB of RAM and an SSD, so we'll see how those puppies work out (I should be getting one of them). I do software development, BTW, if that helps.

My dad was given $150 to find his own set of 16GB set of memory. He bought the cheapest 2x8 set off Newegg and called it a day. Works great according to him, it's just the stupid crap that Lokutus mentioned (he does software dev too) that he keeps bitching about. Mainly crap about Lotus Notes, but that's a different story.

He's happy with his W520 as far as I'm concerned. Great build quality at a decent weight.
