I'm finally switching from AMD to Intel. I'm new to DDR2.

Should I get 800 or 1066 speed DDR2? I know the PK5 supports 1066. Memory prices are pretty low, so I thought 1066 would be best.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Newegg had some wintec ddr2 800 that's supposed to overclock pretty well. 2 gigs for $90 shipped, last time I checked.

Anymore suggestions on RAM. I really could use some guidance. No performance increase getting 1066 over 800. This is my first Core2Duo box.

Newb to the DDR2 scene.

Thanks!

Go with DDR2 1066, that way you don't have to worry about overclocking your RAM. And you'll need the 1066 mhz speed with an E6400 if you want to push it to the limit!

I think it is a matter of deciding where you will be happy and going from there. You are using an e6400 chip, so you have an 8X multiplier. 8X400= 3200. Are you happy at 3200? Will your chip do more than 3200? Do you want 3600? If so, you need RAM that does 450. Practically all decent quality DDR2-800 RAM will OC to 450. You may have to sacrifice timings, but it will do it.

What are the steppings on your chip? That may help decide if your chip will even go over 3.2 and whether you need anything better than DDR2-800.
