Need MB/CPU recommendation for new build

Hi there:
Finally decided to build myself a new system based on Intel P45/G45 chipset and either the Core 2 Duo or the Quad Core CPU. My main application is DVD video files editing/cutting, multimedia applications including potential HTPC use and extensive Audio processing. Don't play many games though.

Would like to pick either a ASUS or Gigabyte MB for reliability but still undecided whether I should go for a P45 based Mb with standalone VideoCard or the G45 IGP solution. Any MB and Video card recommendation?

Also need to choose between a low end Quad CPU like the Q6600 and the Dual Core CPU like a E8400. Any comment will be appreciated!

There should be a bunch of sales on quad core processors and P45/48 motherboards over the next month or two, because Deneb and Nehalem are right around the corner, and stores are going to try to get rid of inventory. I would say grab up some of the units during those sales.

If you plan to game at all you need a standalone video card. Depending on resolution & games you play, go for a 9600GSO (~$50AR), a 4670 ($80), an 8800GT (~$100AR) or a 4850 ($140AR). 9600GSO and 4670 are well suited to light gaming at 12x10 (19" LCD), 8800GT will handle most games at 16x10 (22" LCD) and 4850 will get you to 19x12 (24" LCD) or handle 16x10 with AA cranked up.

For a specific motherboard recommendation, I have heard good things about the ASUS P5Q Pro.

If you can't wait get a Q6600 + Scythe Katana 2 CPU Cooler + P5Q PRO and overclock it, when the prices drop on the Q9xxx series replace the Q6600 if it is not providing the horsepower you need. I personally run the P5Q PRO and is a solid MB, last board was ASUS P5K PRO with a Q6600, their boards seem reliable.
