Need major help with vaio laptop

Ok my mom's sony vaio laptor just broke agian for about the 4th time. anyway heres the problem. the thing just hangs on the windows xp home loading screen. i can boot it into safe mode but than what? i remember sometimes the problem was corrupt wireless card drivers so i pop ot the card, start up, and nothing. it just hangs. any help is greatly appreiciated.
