Need major help, no 3d devices found error

I've got dx8a, and had nVidia driver 12.41 (I think, could have been 21.81). I had a GF2MX working fine
Bought a GF2 Pro (mx wasn't actually mine). As soon as I installed it, I ran 3dmark 2001 no problem. After a few test runs, I decided to see what it looked like in a game.
I started Max Payne. No problems, looks great at 10x7x32 until I kicked in 2xAA.
Then the problem showed up. I attempted to start EQ, and after the patch ran, I got the error, "No 3d device found" . I installed Rogue Squadron, it shows no video choices. I attempted to run D2, and after running the video test, it shows No Options available.
All of this worked before the card switch (except Rogue Squadron which I had just bought). So I checked dxdiag. See's my video card, but under DirectDraw/Direct 3d/AGP Texture Acceleration, all are listed as Not available. I compared this to my wife's system, using a GF, and it shows all 3 enabled.
At this point, I've uninstalled the video drivers 4 or 5 times, tried at least 4 different versions from 7.59 to 21.81. I've reinstalled dx8a, I even tried deleting all of it's drivers and reinstalling. NOTHING has worked. I even reinstalled the GF2MX and it's now having the same issue. Something is totally blown up.
does anyone have any ideas? I'm about to wipe my drive and reinstall win2k, but I really don't want to do that. Any assistance at all would be appreciated. besides here, I can also be reached at ICQ 1223705.
Please help, and thanks,

I was gonna say try reseating the card but you already tried that. Its EITHER an OS problem(most likely) or a vid card problem

well, this is weird to say the least.I was reading another thread,
which mentioned having this problem with agp texturing, and it being due to
Netmeeting remote desktop sharing. And I had just recently turned on
desktop sharing on this system, though it crashes everytime it tries to
start.

As soon as I went back into netmeeting and turned on desktop sharing, dxdiag
shows all 3 settings enabled now 🙂 go figure

oh yeah the Gef mx had same problem so its NOT a vid card problem.. probably an OS problem.. you could try reinstalling DirectX

you can actually uninstall/reinstall DX with Direct X buster that might help

I'm at a loss other than that

unless it could possibly be a mobo AGP issue 🙁
