Need link for the article on how to slipstream XP SP1 onto a bootable XP CD

ack, everytime i come across slipstream direction they always vary by a little bit. is there an "official" way to slipstream or just a bunch fo ways that all work?

I have been meaning to reinstall my XP Pro Student from one of those MS launch events for Visual Studio .Net. Will I have to reactivate my install if I create a slipstream install cd?

Also are all the previous updates included in this SP? I.e. all the previous critical updates and downloads that I've already gotten, will they have to be redownloaded or are they included in SP1?

it should contain every update ms has released yet, i'm not even touching the update till i hear from others that it works. as far as slipstreaming sp1 into your copy of xp, makes me wonder if its legal...dont know.

Why wouldn't it be legal? All you're doing is overwriting the older versions of files and adding newer files to your i386 folder. All these udated/added files are provided by MS in their service pack.

I don't know that it makes a difference in general if you install the SP1 as a slipstream install or just add it later.

The reason many people are interested in slipstreaming SP1 is because the widely pirated version requires you to slipstream the SP's because its a enterprise edition. For enterprise software MS has locked out the dynamic updating feature to make network and software administrators jobs easier (they only have to support on version because the user can't update it, only the admin can update it).
