Need legal advice for a friend (trading deal on a forum)

I have a good friend in the UK who owned a screen used Halloween H20 Hero mask from the film. It is valued at about $7,000. He received an email from a reputable collector (in Canada) who offered to trade his 1975 Captain Kirk mask (the mask the Halloween 1 Michael Myers mask was converted from) valued at $13,000 in mint condition straight up for it. A knowledgeable source on our forum has stated that the H20 Hero mask is not the Hero even after talking to the actor that wore the mask himself, Chris Durand. Now this is of course hearsay as most actors don't remember exactly what they wore in a movie anyhow. The H20 mask was purchased directly from Premiere Props and came with a COA, also stated to be authentic by Miramax.

So now the guy from Canada who traded his 1975 Captain Kirk mask is wanting the trader to trade it back since their is doubt in his mind that the mask is authentic. He's saying it was misrepresented when my friend from the UK still believes its the real deal.

Is there any legal action that can come from one party in CAN to another in the UK? If so what could possibly come out of this hearsay? I think it should be dropped.

I can post pics if anyone would like to see the comparison.
I'm a huge HalloweeN I, II and H20 fan and this is a large debate at our forums right now.

---hero mask = the main mask used in the film for close up shots---

note - there is a good bit to read... so don't bother if masks, drama or horror movies don't interest you.

What does this mean: "A knowledgeable source on our forum has stated that the H20 Hero mask is not the Hero even after talking to the actor that wore the mask himself, Chris Durand." ???

What is the hero mask?

The knowledgeable source is a guy named Sean Clark. He owns rights to a lot of molds used to make movie masks and talks with the actors and directors a good bit. He is well known in the horror community.

The hero mask is the main mask used in the movie for close up shots - the most time is spent on it to give it the utmost detail.

... I can only imagine what the customs inspector will do when they open up the package insured for $13,000 containing a rubber mask. I can just see the guy running around his warehouse wearing the mask, boxcutter in hand, jumping out from behind shipping crates to scare coworkers.

Out of morbid curiosity I read the threads you posted and really don't see why you are asking for legal advice when the trade isn't even completed yet. Both traders agreed to a deal and had ample time to inspect pictures and ask questions about the items before agreeing to the trade. AFTER the other mask arrives and IF one of the traders can make a case that deception was involved to misrepresent the value of an item you have something to talk about. Until then you all need to chill out and let the items at least reach the recipient so authenticity can be determined.

...and why are you guys shipping $20,000 worth of lightweight movie props via the postal service, go UPS/Fedex for the high dollar items people... or buy a plane ticket on the cheap and do the trade in person.
