Need LARGE fan (~300-400mm) fan for side of cabinet

I have a friend who wanted such a silent PC that he's having some heat problems - especially since he stuck the thing in a cabinet. He can't even close the door.
(LianLi PC60Aplus with Nexus fans, Asus A8N32deluxe(heatpipe), 92mm Zalman CNS7000AlCu cooler)

My suggestion to him was to mod the *cabinet* as follows:

1. Cut out a hole in the door and put some type of mesh filter.

2. Put a large ~300mm fan on the side of the cabinet and exhaust the whole cabinet. (left side if facing computer front)

I was thinking he could even take the side cover off the computer if he wanted too.....

What do you all think about that solution? cons/pros?

Do you have any suggestions? I was thinking something along the lines of these axial Papst fans (~300-400mm, 315mm in .pdf format here)..but I'm concerned the cooling advantage (1000 - 2000 cfm) is offset by the noise issue (~50-60dBa).

Does anyone know of a better box/axial fan that he could mount that'll pull a good amount of air through the cabinet, yet not sound too loud?

UPDATE: I've tracked down a 315mm 1135CFM 53dB fan here. The catch? it's $184!!! YIKES! I definitely need other solutions here..... :Q

My suggestion is that no matter how hard you stir hot air, you will get little return for your efforts. Get it out of the cabinet because that's just plain dumb. Now, as far as the large fan goes, I've seen that done quite successfully, but not in a choked ambient temperature environment. A friend actually glued a 500 mm house fan in place on the side panel and ran it wisper quiet slow and the results were very impressive.

Just cutting the back out of the cabinet may be entirely adequate. Heat is the active force- it seeks to escape, to dissipate, to equalize into the environment. You just have to let it do so...
